One of the committee members, Maurice Ramsey, said the official opening had been a fantastic event and said the community park was being used daily by all sectors of the community.

The €200,000 community park which received funding from Leader and Wicklow County Council is sited on lands which previously belonged to Brian Stokes. The community park includes a quiet zone, an adult outdoor gym, a full playground complete with zip line, a teenage area, stumps, natural oghams and bird boxes.

'It's been flat out busy since we've opened', said Maurice 'and there's always new faces.'

The project took two years to complete from start to finish and is a great asset to the communities of Ashford and the surrounding areas.
