The one-way system in Arklow looks set to be rescinded after five councillors put their name to a notice of motion calling for its immediate reversal.

Cllrs. Nicky Kelly, Tommy Annesley, John Byrne, Una Kelly and Miriam Murphy have a notice of motion before tonight's (Wednesday) town council meeting calling for the immediate reversal of the one-way trial system 'based on the legitimate and genuine concerns of hard pressed traders in the town...we must be willing to acknowledge the difficulties the system has caused.'

Meanwhile, Bus Eireann is expected to reinstate the bus stops on Main Street and Lidl this Sunday. Yesterday (Tuesday) Bus Eireann, who ceased stopping at the bus stops at Main Street and Lidl on January 1 as a result of the one-way system, said it was carrying out a route risk assessment today .

A Bus Eireann spokesperson said: 'All going okay we would hope to reinstate the stops from this Sunday'.
