THERE was plenty of Christmas spirit last week in St. Saviour's Church, Arklow as the pupils of Carysfort National School put on their nativity play.

The play, The Innkeepers Christmas, went off without a hitch much to the relief of the staff and students who put in a lot of work over the past number of weeks.

There was a collection on the night for the Philippines as some of the students have relatives who were affected by the disaster there and an impressive €781.66 was raised. The money was handed over to Niall Smullen of Bothar at the school later in the week and will be put to work to help efforts in the Philippines immediately. The cheque was presented by students from 5th and 6th class and thanks were expressed to the parents and friends of the school who gave so generously to the collection.
