MINISTER Alex White visited Tiglin Rehabilitation Centre in Ashford last week to familiarise himself with the successful programme on offer there.
He was shown around the facilities by the Chairman of Tiglin Aubrey McCarthy and Tiglin's CEO Philip Thompson. Minister White, who is the Minister of State at the Department of Health with responsibility for Primary Care, was introduced to many of the students on the Tiglin programme who have benefited from the programme.
Also present were Anne Ferris TD and Andrew Doyle TD along with Councillor Peter Dempsey from Arklow.
Andrew Doyle TD commended the value of the work that Tiglin is doing in his constituency and this was echoed by Anne Ferris TD. Minister White, who stayed at the facility for over an hour said: 'I am amazed at the restorative work of the buildings but more noticeably the happy faces which represent changed lives'.
The minister applauded the interagency approach of Tiglin and recognised that it is an important aspect of a residential rehabilitation centre.
