A massive 117 Community and voluntary groups from around the county were presented with grants as part of the Community Awards Scheme.
Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council, Cllr. Chris Fox, made the presentations at a reception held in the County Buildings.
In all a total of €70,000 was presented to the various organisations.
The Community Awards Scheme is designed to assist local community and voluntary groups and sporting organisations that would benefit from small scale once-off funding to support the groups' activities or to develop a particular project.
The Award Scheme gives the County Council the opportunity to recognise and value the voluntary contribution made by local groups in their own localities.
Chief Executive of Wicklow County Council, Eddie Sheehy congratulated the award recipients and acknowledged and commended the dedication and commitment of these groups within their local community.
Some of the groups receiving grants included the 11th Wicklow Girls Brigade, Arklow Sea Scouts, BBKR Community Games, Carnew Community Care, Delgany Community Council, Dunlavin Community First Responders, Kilmac Drama Group, Newtown Youth Project, Roundwood Cardiac First Responders, Shuttle Knit Ltd., Tinahely Community Projects, Wicklow SPCA and Wicklow Cardiac First Responders.
