CHRISTMAS Chriskindle night party to mark the end of the 2012 year in a fitting manner to celebrate the birth of Jesus some two thousand years after the event as described in the Bible. The members excelled once again in the variety and amount of treats that were laid out for the players to enjoy throughout the evenings bridge competition. The liquid refreshment went down pretty well with most members who were not dedicated drivers. The Tournament Director was chauffeured to and from his front door in an executive limo thanks to the kindness of Colin Walsh. The cards had many a twist in several deals, One member being dealt hand after hand with handsome holding of diamonds but few points to make hay from them. All in all I think everyone enjoyed their last bridge night out before the New Year. The Director thanked Sister Marian for the use of the venue at the Dominican Ecology complex every Wednesday and asked the assembled members to remember those who were mourning the loss of loved ones at this time of year. To remember and offer the condolences of the Club in a special way to Carmel O'Donovan whose husband Timmy O'Donovan died recently. Competition results: First were Carmel Moore and Billy Dunne; second were Marian O'Sullivan and Mairead Fallon; third were Jim Carney and Gary Dowlingâ?¦.and everyone in the audience went home with a Christmas present! The Club will meet again at 8 p.m. on the first Wednesday of the New Year, the 2nd of January in the Ecology Centre. Wishing all our members and friends a Happy and Peaceful Christmas and a bright and prosperous New Year.
