Double yellow line relief for residents at Clogga

Published 12/07/2014 | 12:00

Residents at Clogga who regularly had their driveways blocked by beach-goers who parked along their road have breathed a sigh of relief now that double yellow lines have been installed.

Almost a year to the day since residents mounted a campaign appealing to Arklow Town Council to address the situation the lines have been painted – and just in time for the busy beach season.

Matters came to a head last summer when one of the residents was blocked into her driveway for hours and could not leave her home by car until the offending motorist returned after an afternoon on Clogga Beach. 'The matter has been resolved and all of the residents are very happy and relieved. Now that there are double yellow lines those who continue to park along the road can be prosecuted accordingly,' said resident Donal Kearney.

'It has been an ongoing issue for years so we are happy with the outcome,' he added.

Mr. Kearney said that the residents wished to extend thanks to Simon Harris TD and to local council engineer Ruairi O'Hanlon for their assistance.
