Bridge Club news

The recent winners were North/South John Hopkins and Josephine Bulger, Maura Kavanagh and Joan D'arcy, Birdie Andrews and Catherine Black. In the East/West the winners were Mary Flynn and Rita McNamara, joint 2nd Pat Kerr and Angela Nolan, Margaret Walshe and Pascal Doyle.

Wednesday last saw another hard fought bridge competition with top honours going to Joan McGeachin and John Domoney who enjoyed a commanding lead over their nearest rivals Mairead Fallon and Sister Marion O'Sullivan who were only a nose in front of Linda Walsh and Carol Wadden.

Those top three pairs were a good bit ahead of the rest of the pack who could only struggle with some peculiar distribution on some deals and awkward splits of suits in many others. That is what makes the game so challenging and the loyal members return week after week for more masochistic enjoyment. New members always welcome at 8pm in the Dominican Ecology complex at the top of Kilmantin Hill in Wicklow Town.
