Baptist Church youth five-a-side tornament

Arklow Baptist Church hosted a successful youth five-a-side tournament in town recently.

Eight teams from Arklow and one from Dublin came together at Arklow Geraldines GAA pitch to compete for the Arklow Youth Five-a-Side Trophy 2014.

Layton Kelly, director of Reformers Unanimous Ireland, and Chris Stoll, a youth worker who lives in Arklow served as referees and gave a very helpful talk to the young footballers who were present.

After some intense competition, it came down to two teams in the final match – last year's defending champions, Brian Byrne FC and The Pipe Pipers. The Pipers, who were new to the tournament this year, put on an amazing show, making their way to a gripping final match. With less than 20 seconds before the final whistle, Brian Byrne FC put away one last goal to break the tie, coming away with the title and trophy for the second year running. Congratulations to the winning team and to all the participants who made for a fabulous tournament this year.
