Animals take centre stage
Wicklow SPCA promised a day that was 'All About Animals' last Sunday and that's certainly what it delivered at its animal sanctuary at Sharpeshill.
The weather may not have been the best but that didn't deter the crowds from coming to see the broad range of demonstrations and to hear from a range of experts as well as wiling away a few hours browsing the stalls and picking up some information and tips about caring for their pets.
Among the speakers on the day were beekeeper Ben Harden and representatives for the Irish Horse Welfare Trust, Dogs for the Disabled, the National Reptile Zoo, the National Parks and Wildlife Service and Dublin Zoo while those putting on a show in the display included the Garda Dog Unit, the Revenue Commissioners' detector dogs and Dogs for the Disabled. The team from Wonder Paws also provided advice on training and grooming, while their dogs also showed their prowess on the agility course.
