A world of activities at Community College
THERE was a great atmosphere in Arklow Community College on Friday as part of Yellow Flag Hospitality Day.
The event which was part of National Multicultural Week saw the school choir give a rousing performance. Other activities included tastings of a range of foods from around the world, Yellow Flag poetry readings from the students and a Power Point presentation chronicling the school's Yellow Flag activities over the past year. There was also an award for Yellow Flag arts and crafts projects completed by the students over the course of the school year.
The college was awarded its Yellow Flag in 2012, making it the first and to date only school in Arklow to receive the award. The Yellow Flag recognises multicultural activities aimed promoting inclusiveness in schools across Ireland.
For the past five years the school has also held an annual multicultural festival and the school also has greetings in a multitude of different languages.
Friday's Yellow Flag Hospitality Day allowed the school to build on this solid multicultural foundation.
