WICKLOW TOWN was once again the centre of attention for European visitors over the St. Patrick weekend when 85 people from Montigney in France, Eichenzell in Germany and Porthmadog in Wales descended on the town to join in the festivities and take part in the towns parade.

It was all organised by the very active twinning committee and boosted the local economy in very difficult times and much appreciated by all local businesses. Last weekend the celebrations continued in Germany.

The Mayor of Eichenzell Dieter Kolb invited local musician Sean Olohan to perform for their annual Wicklow/eichenzell twinning concert in the Culture Centre.

The event was sold out weeks in advance which consisted of music song and dance. Sean accompanied by Martin Lacey performed two newly written songs connected with the twinning which proved a huge success. Watch this space for news on a new CD! As usual the German hospitality was very evident thanks to the Mayor and his committee in the Eichenzell Town Hall.

Sean and his band have been invited back next year to continue the cultural exchange.
