Yvette took a fantastic photograph of a seven spot ladybird Conccinella 7-punctata, a picture which has already won a monthly award in the Snap photography competition that appears in this newspapers.

The picture was taken in Yvette's back garden and won her a highly commended award from the Buglife 2014 photo judges as well as a place on the 2014 calendar.

Yvette did brilliantly as over 300 people entered the competition, submitting over 1,300 photos mostly from the UK but there were also entries from further afield - Detroit, Iran, New Delhi, Singapore, West Lebanon, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Indonesia, West Java, Estonia, Ireland.

This is Buglife's first ever photography competition. They ran the competition to give all those people who love taking pictures of 'the small things that run the planet' a chance to share their passion.

It has been so successful that Buglife say they will definitely be making the competition an annual event.
