TY students to teach people to learn to log on

Transition Year students in Avondale Community College are inviting older members of the community to share in learning about computer and mobile phone usage on a one to one basis.

'Log On, Learn' is an initiative in which Transition Year students 'buddy up' with an older person from the local community and they share their computer and life skills with each other. The one-to-one nature of learning means that older people can learn about what they want to, at their own pace.

The course suits older people who want to know more about using computers and mobile phones or who may not have had a chance to use a computer before.

The Transition Year 'teachers' get a lot out of the classes too, mixing with people who have a wealth of knowledge and wisdom and the time to share it.

The classes will take place in Avondale Community College on Thursday afternoons from 1.50 p.m. to 2.50 p.m.

Classes will run from November 28 to December 12 and then from January 16 to January 30.

Anyone interested please phone Miriam on (0404) 46445 to book your place.
