Sleighs are so last season for Santa and he prefers to arrive in Arklow by lifeboat followed by a quick spin in a white carriage!

Arriving at the Bridgewater Shopping Centre on Sunday where he will remain in residence Santa hitched a ride with the Arklow RNLI crew on their lifeboat arriving up the river standing at the bow of boat flanked by members of the RNLI.

After he came to shore he hopped into a waiting carriage where he was brought to the Bridgewater to be greeted by plenty of boys and girls who were only too eager to tell the man in red how good they have been this year. A few Christmas present requests may also have reached his ears but no doubt he issued a stern warning that the good behaviour in the lead up to Christmas is crucial to make it onto his nice list!

Lucky children Millie Behan Reddin (8) and Aaron Behan Reddin (6) were the first lucky children in the queue to meet Santa having won a Santa competition recently on the Bridgewater's Facebook page.

Runners up in the competition were Ian Grant (7) and Daniel Grant (3) who were second in line to meet the man himself.

Santa will be at Bridgewater until Christmas and visits are free.
