Powerscourt in full bloom

The herbaceous border at Powerscourt Gardens is in full bloom now. The best time to visit is when it's ablaze with the colours of summer.
Head Gardener Michael Byrne has many favourites along the border at the moment including Sweetpea, Echinops and Crocosmia Lucifer which grows wild in Wicklow and the west of Ireland. The beautiful Inula Magnifica, a yellow plant which resembles a sunflower and grows over 8ft tall is in bloom too.
The Walled Gardens at Powerscourt feature over 1,000 fascinating plants as well as Ireland's longest herbaceous border.
The border is buzzing with our native butterflies and bees which are being attracted by its many flowers. The scent of lavender and herbs including oregano and thyme is beautiful.
