CHRISTMAS is almost upon us and the people of Ashford are kick starting their festive season with the annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Carol Singing Ceremony.
The ceremony takes place on Sunday, December 15 at 5 p.m. under the tree in Ashford church grounds.
It's the fourth year running this festive celebration has taken place and it is now a permanent fixture in the Christmas calendar.
The school children from Scoil na Coróine Mhuire and Nun's Cross School Choirs will be joined for the first time this year by the children from Glenealy School. They will be accompanied by the Unity Gospel Choir and local musicians.
The children have been practising hard and are looking forward to everyone joining them to sing Christmas Carols and Songs while helping three lucky school children lead the countdown to turn on the Christmas Tree lights.
Bring your family and friends and make sure to get there on time. Wrap up warm, wear your favourite Christmas sparkle and join in. Catch up with friends after the ceremony sampling the traditional mulled wine, mince pies and hot chocolate all kindly sponsored by local businesses.
