A GROUP of local men are preparing to run the Dublin Marathon this month on behalf of a very brave little boy from Kilcoole.
Gavin Glynn is just two and a half years old and is waging a heroic battle against a rare form of cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma.
'We put the team together to raise money in support of Gavin's amazing fight,' explained Rob Moran. 'The money we raise will go directly to the people at St John's Ward, the Children's Cancer Unit, at Crumlin Children's Hospital.'
The others doing the marathon are Craig Britton, Allan Foxton, Dave Harvey, Dave Quinn, Karl Clark, Dan Fisher and Csaba Egly.
'John and Jayne, Gavin's parents, are good friends,' explained Rob. John and Jane, in consultation with the team at Crumlin, regularly supply St. John's Ward with supplies like sweets for the kids, tea and coffee for the parents' kitchen, and other items needed by both parents and children.
