Three choirs to sing for Alzheimer Society at annual concert
The sound of sweet voices will fill St Fergal's Church in Bray on Sunday, May 14, when three choirs will come together to present an evening of choral music in support of the Alzheimer Society.
Now in its fourth year, the concert has previously delighted its audiences with an eclectic and entertaining programme of music.
This year's participants feature the exceptionally talented Missouri Western State University Concert Choir from the USA.
The American visitors will be supported by Arklow's all-female chamber choir, Cruinniú, and My The Memory Lane Singers of Wicklow Active Retirement, from Glenealy.
The programme includes a pot-pourri of choral classics, spirituals, songs from the shows, traditional folk songs, popular music and Irish medleys.
It promises to be a very entertaining evening with raffle prizes available on the night.
Alzheimer Society of Ireland Wicklow Services offers a range of services for people with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia, their families and carers. Fundraising is an extremely important source of revenue for the society. Since 2014 the annual concerts at St Fergal's church have raised approximately €8,000 to support local services.
'Dementia touches so many people's lives,' said Laurence Collins, of ASI Wicklow Services.
'We are very grateful to these three fine choirs for lending their voices to help with our ongoing local fundraising efforts.
'Both local directors have been in email contact with Dr Elise Hepworth, the director of the Missouri choir, to ensure that the concert is a wonderful choral collaboration. We truly hope the local community will enjoy the concert.'
The concert at St Fergal's will start at 7 p.m. Tickets are €8 per person or €5 concession.
These can be purchased at the door on the night or by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org or Laurence Collins on 086 2722551.
