Singing priest to draw crowd at charity gig

MULTI PLATINUM singer songwriter Fr. Liam Lawton will be the big draw at a fundraising concert taking place in October for St Nicholas of Myra Church, Dunlavin.

MULTI PLATINUM singer songwriter Fr. Liam Lawton will be the big draw at a fundraising concert taking place in October for St Nicholas of Myra Church, Dunlavin.

Fr. Lawton will be the main performer, supported by Tommy Brennan's choir from Scoil Nioclais Naofa

So far he has recorded 14 collections to date with a number of them achieving Platinum status. A number of artists at home and abroad have recorded his material and his liturgical works have translated into many languages including Swedish, French, German and Irish. Liam publishes with one of the major Liturgical Publishers - GIA Music in Chicago. His music has been performed for many State occasions in Ireland and also in the UK and the USA.

His work and performances have brought him to such stages as Carnegie Hall, New York, Chicago Symphony Hall, Annahiem Convention Centre Los Angeles, National Concert Hall Dublin, The Paul VI Auditorium at the Vatican, The White House and many of the world's sacred sites. Liam has recorded a number of TV specials and his works have been narrated by such greats as Gregory Peck, Frank McCourt, Joan Cusack, John Malkovitch and Mick Lally of the Abbey theatre in Dublin.

The fundraising concert takes place on October 4 in the church. Tickets cost €20.
