IT was a momentous week last week for members of the Voices of Bray Community Choir.

They held their first public performances in Mermaid Arts Centre on Thursday and Friday nights.

Founded in 2013, this choir is a new venture in North Wicklow and has in excess of 70 voices.

The choir performed songs from Richard Rodgers to Eric Clapton, from the Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel to Coldplay and many more under the tutelage of musical director John Ivory.. Proceeds from these concerts will be donated to local charities.

There were full houses at Mermaid for the performances with a magical evening for the audience from start to finish.

The choir was established to encourage adults of all ages to get involved in singing and everyone is welcome to get involved regardless of musical ability or experience. There are no auditions and the repertoire of the choir is mainly popular music up to the present day.
