Big wins for Avonmore at the AIMS awards

MEMBERS of Avonmore Musical Society in Arklow are celebrating this week following a big win at the weekend's Association of Irish Musical Society (AIMS) Awards.

Society members and supporters travelled to the gala awards ceremony in Killarney and were delighted to pic up the awards for Best Visual Show and Best Comedienne for Sinead Rees' portrayal of Grandma.

Mairead McKenna also came Runner Up for Best Musical Director.

The Best Visual Award covers Costumes, Hair & Make Up and Props and were of award winning standard in this year's production of The Addams Family thanks to Sharon Kavanagh (Hair & Make Up), Els Penston (Costumes) and Stacey Myler and Karen Kavanagh who looked after props.

Sinead Rees made a return to the stage with Avonmore after a seven year break and her award if the icing on the cake following a great portrayal of Grandma in the show.
