Dempsey has big plans for summer

WHILE FOR most people their football season is coming to an end, for Gary Dempsey it's just about to kick into overdrive.

The man who is the brains behind the Match Fit Soccer Academy has seen his venture enjoy a booming rise to prominence, but the Waterford United skipper is not prepared to rest on his laurels.

Dempsey already has children flocking regularly to his three camps in Co. Wicklow, Co. Wexford and Co. Waterford, but now he intends to broaden his horizons with the creation of a junior academy for children aged between four and seven years-old.

Dempsey's entire ethos is based around playing football in the right manner and that's exactly what he will try to impose on his young protégées. The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international has scheduled for his junior academy to kick off in Waterford's Riverwalk on Sunday, May 27. If you are interested bookings should be made as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Junior academy sessions will consist of one hour's training on a Saturday or Sunday morning.

The midfield virtuoso is also offering a free session for each of his three existing camps for any would-be starlets who may be interested. The free sessions will occur in Wexford on Sunday, May 20, 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

And as if that wasn't enough for the former Everton youngster, he has two summer camps in Hollygrove from Monday, July 23, to Friday, July 27, and Monday, August 20, to Friday, August 24.

But Dempsey's incredible dedication has not gone unnoticed as he recently received a phone call inviting his academy to take part in the prestigious Coca-cola Irish Cup in Dublin from July 13 to 15.

Dempsey will be bringing an Under-11 and Under14 side up to compete.
