THERE IS an all-Wexford clash this Wednesday night in St. Mary's handball club in Wexford town as All-Ireland open doubles champions in the big court, Colin Keeling and Barry Goff, put their title on the line against home town opponents Gavin Buggy and Paul Lambert.
Goff and Keeling won the title last year in impressive fashion and they are firm favourites for this clash and also favourites to be in the winners' enclosure on finals night, however the Buggy/Lambert combination go into this game with nothing to lose and the underdog tag may bring out the best of both players in St. Mary's at 7.30 p.m. on Wednesday.
In Broadford, Limerick, on Saturday afternoon there is a double of matches involving Wexford players. In the Junior 'B' doubles All-Ireland semi-final, Paddy Haughton and Michael Busher are up against Seán Murphy and Anthony Donnelly from Limerick, while following that in the Minor doubles All-Ireland semi-final, Galen Riordan and Pádraig Foley are up against Cork opposition in Michael Hedigan and Daniel Relihan.
The Junior doubles semi-final takes place in Ballymitty this coming Saturday at 3 p.m. as Darren O'Toole and Malachy Whelan face the stiff challenge of David Hickey and Michael Carroll from Tipperary.
This coming weekend the Juvenile All-Ireland semifinals also take place and best of luck is expressed to all Wexford players taking part.
Entries are now being sought for this year's winter league which begins on September 3. All entries must be with clubs and the county Secretary by Friday, August 10.
