WEXFORD MOTOR Club member Graham Scallan made the long trip to Kerry to compete in the Kerry Rally Sprint in Tralee racecourse recently.
Graham was out in the all-new JCR Rally Buggy. He had not driven this before so it needed to be set up to his standards on the one-day event.
As always, Graham came off the start line all guns blazing to put in some outstanding times.
He is new to competing in the rally sprints around Ireland and, like rallying, Graham has made himself quite a name in the rally sprint scene quickly.
His first run was 1.52.2, and next to him in the JCR Rally Buggy was Kieran Flynn from Limerick with 1.52.8. This was looking to be a close day for the rally buggy men!
The second run saw Graham blow his first timed run out of the water with a 1.49.4, with Kieran Flynn on 1.51.6. This left Graham a staggering first overall, and behind them was Limerick's Ken Ryan.
The final run saw Graham yet again set another outstanding time of 1.46.9, and close behind him was Kieran Flynn with a time of 1.46.8 with Ken Ryan on 1.58.9.
This meant Graham had won by 17 seconds from Kieran Flynn and was third overall in the whole event which was a fantastic achievement for a newcomer to this demanding discipline.
Well done on his first day out and these are very fast signs for the future!
