THE GOULEYDUFF doubles were held in Athy on Saturday last. There was a small turn-out with only 16 players, including ten from Wexford.
Paddy Byrne and Pat Ward (Gouleyduff) beat Denis Fitzgerald and Richard Collier (Doran's Bridge) 21-17 in the final.
On Saturday next the Ballycoolan doubles will be held in Ballycoolan, Co. Laois.
Wexford County Board held a meeting in Ferns on Wednesday last where the following transfers were ratified: Matty Canavan, from Monageer to The Forge; Peter Kenny, from McCrea's to The Gap; Tommy Gordon, from Ballyroe (defunct) to Curracloe; John Cullen, from Ballyroe (defunct) to Curracloe.
Date for the Wexford singles and doubles championships have been set. Division 3 singles and doubles is on the one night, May 4.
There will also be a Novice tournament that night for players Under-16 years of age, with a free entry.
Division 2 singles is May 7, with the doubles on May 10. Division 1 singles is May 14, with the doubles on May 17.
Any player not registered with the association will not be permitted to participate in any tournament under the rules of the H.P.A.I.
All winners of cups in any division are responsible for getting their own name engraved on the cups.
The Thomas Doyle open doubles tournament will be held in Páirc Mhuire on Sunday, May 5, at 2 p.m.
The next County Board meeting will be held on May 22 at 8 p.m. This will be the last night for registration and entries for the Wexford League.
