Cyclists come out in force for inaugural Dragon Sportive

THE inaugural Dragon Sportive in Enniscorthy turned out to be a resounding success last Sunday, with over 300 cyclists lining out on the day.

It was like the famous day in 1998 when the Tour de France started from Duffry Hill, as from early morning cyclists from all over the country converged on the Presentation Centre in anticipation of a good day's cycling.

The prayers to the weather gods payed off for chief organisers Paul Nolan and Tom Clifford, as a warm and dry day added to the carnival atmosphere as the cyclists rolled through the town on the start of their journey. The sportive was in aid of St Vincent de Paul, and Rory McCauley, SVP's South East Regional President – who himself took part in the cycle – was delighted with the success of the day.
