Under-21 Premier to have ten teams

TEN TEAMS will compete in the Premier Under-21 hurling championship.
The contestants announced at last Tuesday night's County Board meeting were St. Martin's, Shelmaliers, Glynn-Barntown, Oulart-The Ballagh, Rapparees, Faythe Harriers, St. Anne's, Buffers Alley, Rathnure and Crossabeg-Ballymurn.
The championship will commence on March 16 with two preliminary round games involving Shelmaliers v. Oulart-The Ballagh, and Rapparees v. Crossabeg-Ballymurn.
The quarter-finals which take place on March 29 will involve: St. Martin's v. Rathnure; St. Anne's v. Shelmaliers or Oulart-The Ballagh; Buffers Alley v. Glynn-Barntown; Rapparees or Crossabeg-Ballymurn v. Faythe Harriers.
Meanwhile, the distinction of being the first group to begin a championship campaign in 2013 will fall with the Minor footballers of the county as a full first round programme is down for decision on Sunday at 11 a.m.
Sixteen games are on the fixtures list while the three remaining entrants from an overall figure of 35 have byes.
