WEXFORD'S SENIOR football championship enters the limelight this weekend with a new sponsor on board - Tom Doyle Supplies who are based in Camolin.
The company has strong links with the G.A.A., which will be strengthened even further as the result of their decision to take over the sponsorship of the premier football grade in the county.
Looked upon as a very progressive move, the sponsorship has been welcomed by both the G.A.A. and Tom Doyle Supplies.
Tom Doyle is currently Chairman of Club Wexford and is steeped in Wexford G.A.A. tradition. He has run a very successful business on Main Street in Camolin for many years.
His sponsorship of the Senior football championship is just another of his many involvements in Wexford G.A.A.
Speaking about their association with Wexford G.A.A., he said: 'Tom Doyle Supplies are proud to be involved with Wexford G.A.A. as sponsors of the Senior football championship.
'We have been in business for 40 years supplying tiles, bathrooms, timber floors and stone from our base in Camolin. We are the main suppliers in Ireland of Vitro Tiles.
'People all know us well from passing on the N11 and we get many callers who pop in to see us when travelling to and from Dublin.
'We give employment to many local people and are glad of the chance to take this opportunity to sponsor the Wexford Senior football championship.
'I have always enjoyed Gaelic games and am currently the Chairman of Club Wexford. The sponsorship is bringing my business life into the G.A.A. also and I am delighted to do so.'
As well as six games being played in the Tom Doyle Supplies Senior football championship, the weekend will also see a full programme of activity in the Lodgewood Engineering Intermediate championship plus the Junior and Junior 'A' championships.
Indeed, the very first game in Taghmon on Friday at 7 p.m. has the potential to be one of the best as two near neighbours from New Ross District, Bannow-Ballymitty and St. James', will lock horns at Intermediate level.
The football championships will continue over the weekend of April 26-28 when the second rounds will go ahead.
