Parents must wonder is Minor worth hassle

WE DON'T want to come across all Marty Morrissey-like on the recent county Minor hurling saga, but did nobody stop to think of the impact on the most important people of all?
I'm referring of course to the players and I imagine that many of them sat down and had a serious talk with their parents over the holidays.
Let's face it, if your son had his Leaving Certificate in June and he was also a member of the Wexford Minor hurling panel, would you be impressed by the events of the past month?
More to the point, would you be suggesting to your 17- or 18-year-old that his time might be better employed concentrating fully on his exams for this year? I know I would, because it's going to take something spcial to salvage the 2014 campaign for our Minors which is a very sad state of affairs just seven days into the year. Best of luck to Larry Coleman and his fellow mentors in their quest to do just that.
