How much property tax do you have to pay?

FOLLOWING the imposition of a property tax from the Government, each property in the country needs to be valued. Homeowners will be given the option of either accepting an estimate from the Revenue as to the value of their home, or submitting their own valuation to determine how much property tax they have to pay. It has become clear from the outset that anyone who undervalues their property will be hit with severe penalties which will be imposed by the taxman. The Revenue Commissioners have stated that they will police the payment of property tax, and the valuations put on houses by carrying out spot checks and comparing the values of houses in the same areas. It is thus of vital importance to ensure that you value your house accurately.
