WEXFORD Light Opera Society's production of Follies will open at Wexford Opera House on Monday, April 23.
The show, directed by Christine Scarry with Gay Kirwan as musical director and Edel Quinlan as choreographer, will run for six nights until Saturday, April 28.
The original production of Follies opened on Broadway in 1971 and won seven Tony Awards. It has enjoyed a number of major revivals, most recently on Broadway last year with Elaine Paige and Bernadette Peters.
The musical is about a reunion of performers in a crumbling Broadway theatre scheduled for demolition.
It centres around two couples attending the reunion. Several of the former showgirls perform their old numbers, sometimes accomanied by the ghosts of their former selves.
The Wexford cast will feature Paul Monaghan, Siobhán Meyler Fawsitt, Niamh Penston, Brian O'gorman, James Mcdermott, Sarah Vaughan, Ranae Von Meding, Eric Hayes, Mary Roche, Catherine Walsh, Nicola Roche, Jackie Curran Olohan, Elizabeth Rose Browne, Pat Lawlor, Joanne Flood, Miriam Mulhall, George Lawlor and Tony Brennan.
