Students take Pride in bakery
MAKING BREAD is a skill many people would love to have and Colaiste Abbain students were given the chance to look into the workings of one of Ireland's most successful bakeries at Irish Pride.
The Taghmon-based bakery opened its doors to senior cycle students from Colaiste Abbain in Adamstown as part of The Schools' Business Partnership (SBP) Skills @ Work Programme. This initiative provides a glimpse into the world of work to students.
Twenty students were given a guided tour of the bakery by company employees and gained an insight into the many career opportunities that exist in the food industry.
Speaking during the visit Ken Cahill and Joe Cash, who are senior management of Irish Pride said they hope the students gained an insight into various careers and into what the Irish Pride staff do.
The site visit is one of a number of sessions in The Skills @ Work Programme which also provides CV workshops, mock interviews, company overviews, interview skill techniques as well as sessions on workplace etiquette and teamwork.
