Students from St. Peter's raise €1,743 for Our Lady's Children's Hospital
FIRST years from St Peter's College Secondary School in Wexford raised €1,743 for Dublin's Children's Hospital in one afternoon of sponsored basketball shoots.
Using sponsorship cards to collect the funds, the boys set themselves the challenge of shooting as many hoops as possible for the Childrens Medicinal and Research Foundation (CMRF) at Our Lady's Children's Hospital in Crumlin, Dublin.
Sports teacher Micheal Caulfield said the school had been raising funds for the charity since 1993 and said some 120 boys enjoyed the two hours of basketball and netted over 8,000 hoops.
'The boys deserve credit for raising so much money on their sponsorship cards and sincere thanks to everyone who contributed. Special mention to students James Codd who raised €90 and Mark Campbell who collected €76 for the cause,' he said.
