Shock at sad loss of Ronan Furlong
Wexford has been shocked by the death of former bank manager Ronan Furlong, who was fatally injured in a traffic accident close to his home in Crosstown at the weekend.
Ronan (79) died in Wexford General Hospital on Sunday afternoon from injuries sustained in the accident which happened shortly after 4 p.m. on Friday, when he was struck by a van that was reversing on the road.
Bishop of Ferns Dr Denis Brennan, paid tribute yesterday (Monday) to the Wexford man, who was awarded a Papal knighthood in 2007 for his services to the Church. The bishop described him as 'a genuine friend of many causes and organisations' who 'had the interests of all at heart'.
Ronan's funeral Mass will take place in Rowe Street Church at 12 noon tomorrow (Wednesday).
