Parish bids farewell to Fr. Cogley

THE people of Kilmore parish gathered to honour Fr Jim Cogley last Friday night.

Fr Cogley, a native of nearby Cleariestown, had served as Curate to Kilmore Quay for the past 28 years, prior to his recent appointment as Parish Priest to Oylegate.

The popular priest made the move just before Christmas and will be missed in Kilmore Quay, as evidenced by those who turned out on Friday night to pay tribute to his almost three decades of service to the area and its people.

The local pastoral team organised a special Mass in Fr Cogley's honour last Friday night, which he concelebrated with Fr Denis Doyle, PP Kilmore, and Fr Pat O'Connor, CC Mulrankin/Tomhaggard.

The parish choir, led by Liam Bates, provided the music for the well-attended Mass.

Afterwards, everyone adjourned to the the Stella Maris centre, where a number of presentations were made to Fr Cogley from different groups and organisations from within the community.

'It was a brilliant night,' said Sally Griffith of the pastoral committee, whose members Kay Riordan and Carol Kielthy are missing from our photo.
