Details of the forthcoming 'Fight Night' at St. Joseph's involving hurlers, soccer players, Gaelic footballers and rugby players were announced last week at the venue.

Two dozen complete novices representing the four clubs have embarked on six weeks training to pick up the essentials of ring craft under coaches Gary Byrne, Eddie Byrne and Shane Byrne, Donal Walsh and John Godkin.

The organisers have promised to stage the occasion at the Bishopswater venue with a full ration of Las Vegas razzmatazz including dazzling lights, a deejay and a full bar.

The fight night will take place on Saturday March 29 at St. Joseph's, with seconds away in the first bout of a 12 fight programme at 8 p.m. Each contest is scheduled for three rounds. Tickets are on sale at €15 each.

'The diversity of sports will ensure a fantastic atmosphere on the night,' commented Wayne Rogan, chairman of the host club at the launch reception. 'If last year's event is anything to go by a brilliant night's entertainment is guaranteed.'
