Guides get into festive spirit at their nativity carol service
The nativity scene was brought to life by Clonard Guides recently as they held a nativity carol service in Clonard Community Centre. Around 80 children took part on the night and it was a wonderful occasion according to leader Michelle Goff.
'It was a brilliant night,' she said. 'They all had a great time. We had great support from parents and grandparents and friends. They managed to fill the hall. As is always the case with young kids, there were a couple of little hiccups on the night, but it went brilliantly.'
While the older Guides acted out the nativity scene, the younger group narrated, before they all came together to sing some of their favourite Christmas carols at the end of the night. The kids managed to raise €283 for the oncology unit at Wexford General Hospital, a charity which the group felt was very important.
'Well one of the leaders is currently receiving treatment up there,' said Michelle. 'Also we know a couple of parents and grandparents have received treatment there. We try to do a little fundraiser for something local each year and this year we felt this would be a great cause.'
