Lifeguards from Wexford did their county proud as they took part in Irish Water Safety's National Irish Pool Lifesaving Championships in Limerick.

Wexford's finest faced competition from 16 other counties at the event, which took place at the University of Limerick's 50m pool complex. There were particular celebrations for Wexford woman Georgina Steele, who managed to set new Irish records at the event. Georgina, from Glynn, managed to finish the Girls 100m Manikin Carry with a time of 1.04.40 and the Girls 50m Manikin Carry with a time of 40.47, smashing the previous Irish records.

The Wexford teams were unlucky to miss out on a win in the Junior Boys section and the Junior Girls section, with teams from Clare, who scooped a number of the awards on the day, taking top spot. The Wexford Lifeguards can be extremely proud of their performance, however, as the level of competition was extremely high.
