Garda intervention may be needed to sort out flooding on a road in Blackwater.
The issue a recent road closure in the townland of Ballina was raised by local councillor Oliver Walsh.
He said the latest inundation was not fair to residents of the area, who had also had also suffered two months of disruption last year.
Director of roads Eamonn Hore responded that the problem had already been drawn to the attention of the county council's planning and environment departments. The flooding was caused by the blocking of a drain and he felt that those responsible were being most unreasonable.
He indicated that he was close to referring the matter to the Gardaí after council engineers and foremen had been unable to sort the difficulties out. He revealed that pipes had been offered free of charge in an effort to cure the blockage.
Eamonn Hore felt that a reasonable approach had been taken by the local authority and he was not sure what else he and his colleagues could do.
