WEXFORD BOROUGH Council has been called upon to extend the opening hours of Crosstown Cemetery during the summer months.
According to Cllr. Fergie Kehoe a sign has recently been erected in the cemetery stating it will close at 5 p.m. daily except Fridays when it will close at 4 p.m.
Normally the cemetery is open until 8 p.m. from April onwards, explained the Fianna Fail councillor who has called on the council to revert back to the 8 p.m. opening time over the summer months.
' People are very concerned because a lot of families need access for the summer months to attend and upkeep graves. It's not the financial cost that should be looked at, it should be an emotional cost,' said Cllr. Kehoe.
