Trocaire poster boy Daniel Okweng has sent the people of Barntown a photograph of himself proudly holding a signed Arsenal picture.
The team photo was dispatched to him as a surprise gift last year by Barntown curate Fr. John Carroll.
Daniel, aged 10 from the northern Ugandan village of Barloyno is the boy whose photo appeared on the 2012 Trocaire collection box.
After meeting Daniel in Uganda and discovering he is an avid Arsenal fan, Fr. Carroll, Wexford co-ordinator for the Trocaire Lenten campaign, pulled some strings with Tony Adams, the retired Arsenal and England captain.
The prized possession was collected by Trocaire's Ugandan director Sean Farrell during a return visit home to Ireland
This week, a special thank you message from Daniel arrived in Barntown in the form of a photograph of himself with the Arsenal memento.
'The Arsenal team photograph is the pride and joy of this young supporter and it enjoys a prominent place in his home village of Barloyno,' said Mr. Farrell who sent the message.
'We just wanted to let you know that Daniel and the family love the photo,' he reported.
Daniel also received an Arsenal jersey sent to him by Barntown boy Jack Sinnott.
