AN epic journey on foot which contained an estimated three million steps has resulted in over €11,000 being raised for Wexford's autism support group. Cottage Autism Network (CAN).
In April 2013 Yvonne Tyler and Michael Walsh undertook a 2,300km trek by foot, following the footsteps of ancient pilgrims on the route known as 'The Way of Saint James' or the 'Camino'. Starting from Holycross om Tipperary, they headed to Cork, ferrying to Brittany before they walked through France and on to Santiago in Spain.
Yvonne and Michael's epic three-month journey was dedicated to increasing autism awareness and raising much needed funds for autism charities. Yvonne's Camino walk raised a fine sum of €11,052 for CAN, which she recently presented to the group who are extremely grateful for Yvonne's fundraising efforts.
Yvonne will be telling the story of her journey at a talk in The Bailey in Enniscorthy on Sunday February 16, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.. She will be joined by local man David Hasslacher who also will give a talk on 'St Bernadette behind the Halo'. Refreshments provided, admission a donation to Cottage Autism Network.
