A MUSIC Marathon and an inspiring walk on the Camino helped Deirdre Moran raise €4,200 which she has just presented to Sheila Gallaghar of Wexford Alzheimer's.
Deirdre completed the Camino De Santiago Trek (The French Way Last 120km) between September 28 and October 5.
The walk followed a music marathon at Mooney's on the Quay in mid-September.
Deirdre said it was certainly a night to remember to help those who cannot.
There was A Monster Trad and Ballad Session featuring musicians from various sessions around the county and perforamances by top class local bands and solo artists, including Na Buachaillí, Mark Monaghan, The Ocelots, Edd & Nicola Mc Donald, Deirdre Moran & Sara Murphy, Lee & Fitzy, Emily Jane Furlong, Nixon, Corner Boy and Borderline.
All auction lots and lucky dip prizes were collected from lots of very generous local Wexford Businesses and Deirdre said she wanted to thank them all and the musicians and helpers on the night.
She said she wanted to say a special thanks to May Cadogan for capturing the Music Marathon in DVD which is available at Mooneys for €10. Any funds raised by its sale will go to Wexford Alzheimer's Care.
