WEXFORD town aid worker, David Williams is urging sports fans from all over the county to sign up to GOAL Jersey Day, which is taking place this year on Friday, October 11.

The annual fundraiser invites people to wear their favourite sports jersey for the day, and make whatever contribution they can afford to GOAL. It takes place in hundreds of schools, businesses and organisations across the country every year, and helps raise vital funds for GOAL's work across the developing world. It is expected that it will take place at more than 800 locations nationwide this year.

'I would love to see more companies and schools from Wexford sign up and help raise as much money as possible for our work overseas,' said David, who is a media officer for GOAL in their head office in Dublin.

All proceeds generated by GOAL Jersey Day will be used by GOAL to support some of its most urgent operations across 13 countries, including Syria, where its work will include providing food aid to more than 120,000 displaced people by the end of October.

To sign up to the event, email jerseyday@goal.ie or call Alan Vard in GOAL at 01-2809 779. For more information on GOAL Jersey Day, or to donate to GOAL, please visit www.goal.ie, or telephone GOAL at the same number.
