PLANNERS believe that five new houses for pensioners in Rathangan next to the GAA club will make a positive contribution to the life of the village.
The successful application for planning permission was received from the Rathangan Senior Citizen Housing organisation.
They renewed their proposal to demolish a series of derelict out buildings at a site between the Gaelic grounds and the parish graveyard.
The county council officials noted that the walls of the cemetery will have to be lowered in order to allow safe sightlines for motorists at the entrance to the development.
