St. Mary's (Rosslare) became the first GAA club in Ireland to host a blood donation clinic as part of a new link-up between the Association and the Irish Blood Transfusion Service.
GAA club members around the country are being encouraged to give blood and St. Mary's was the first to sign up.
Over 130 people, including club members and local residents, turned up at an improvised clinic in the GAA complex in Tagoat last Thursday night.
About a quarter of those who arrived were first time donors.
'There was a great turn-out. We had people aged grom 18 to 65,' said a club spokeswoman. 'The Blood Transfusion Service was delighted with how it went,' she added.
