The landmark Carley's Bridge House in Enniscorthy has sold at a public auction for €320,000.
The house, pictured right, which comes with five acres of land and a pottery complex, was bought by an Arklow solicitor on behalf of an undisclosed client.
A second lot of 60 acres of land was bought for €550,000 by auctioneer Michael A. O'Leary on behalf of a client.
Carley's Bridge House and lands land went under the hammer of Sherry Fitzgerald Haythorntwaite Auctioneers in the Riverside Park Hotel last Friday afternoon.
The properties were placed on the market by the estate of the late Dorothy Owens.
Bidding got off to a quick start in a well-attended auction room with three serious bidders emerging for the land and two chief contenders for the house. Both lots achieved in excess of the advised market value.
Adrian Haythorntwaite said he was delighted with the outcome in both cases.
He described the house as an 'achingly beautiful' property which attracted strong interest during the open viewing period.
