Parts of Wexford will feature heavily in a new TG4 documentary on the EirGrid 'Gridlink' project which is due to air tonight (Tuesday) at 7:30 p.m. The documentary, which was filmed as part of TG4's current affairs programme '7 Lá', aims to examine in detail both sides of the dispute.
The 'Gridlink' project aims to connect power stations via a network of 1km wide pylons which will run through the South East. '7 Lá' aims to find out exactly what the consequences will be for the people who are living in the path of the proposed routes, as well as talking to representatives from EirGrid about just how vital the project is for the country's electricity supply.
As part of the documentary Fiontán Ó Súilleabháin, who is a member of 'Wexford Against Pylons', will show the crew some of the proposed routes in North Wexford and the areas which are likely to be worst affected. Among them will be Ballyroebuck National School which would be situated very close to one of these huge pylons on one of the proposed routes.
The documentary will also visit groups in Carlow and Kilkenny .
