In the 10th minute the Coleman's centre forward Adam Gallagher got his side off the mark with a fine free from range. O'Brien then retained Summerhill's 3 point advantage with a great score after a good solo run. Gallagher and Breheny then swapped frees to leave the score 5-3 with 10 minutes to go in the opening half.
Coleman's then had their best spell in the game scoring 2 points without reply. Summerhill replied with a point of their own giving them the lead going into the break. Summerhill were much more the dominant side than the score line would suggest. At the break it was Summerhill 0-6 St.Colemans 0-5.
Summerhill began the second half the same way as they started off the first -scoring 3 points without reply. Jamie Gillen's fine point was the pick of the bunch. Coleman's were then reduced to 13 men in quick succession with corner back Ciaran Finn and the Mayo minor captain and Coleman's best performer on the day Adam Gallagher receiving their marching orders After this there was no real life in the game and Summerhill controlled the last quarter tagging on 3 more points. All in all this was a good workout for Summerhill especially with some key players out injured, but they'll face much stiffer tests in the future.
Impressive for Summerhill on the day were Darragh O'Brien, Jamie Gillen in an unfamiliar centre half-back role, the ever industrious Stephen Kerins and the tireless Ciaran Stenson.
